October was a joyful and engaging month for the Strathpine Aged Care community, filled with music, creative activities, cultural celebrations, social outings and festive fun. From lively entertainment and art exhibitions to Diwali celebrations, gardening, bus trips and Halloween festivities, residents and staff shared meaningful moments of connection, laughter and community spirit throughout the month.
October was a month filled with connection, creativity and celebration across the Strathpine Aged Care community, with residents, families and staff coming together to enjoy a wide range of meaningful experiences and shared moments.
Our residents enjoyed a lovely morning visit to the Strathpine Library, borrowing large print and talking books and having some fun with the interactive laser projector. Libraries truly are a treasure trove of imagination.The day continued with a scenic drive to beautiful Dayboro, topped off with a stop at McDonald’s for a classic soft serve ice cream on a sunny afternoon.
Residents were treated to lively entertainment during Happy Hour with Rob Stevenson, where sing-alongs had everyone tapping their feet, clapping along and enjoying a joyful end to the week. Music continues to play an important role in bringing our community together and creating uplifting moments.
Throughout the month, residents enjoyed several fun-filled lifestyle weeks featuring Arts and Crafts, Cards, Scrabble, Seated Exercise, morning sunbakes, and our ever-popular Bingo sessions. These activities provided wonderful opportunities for laughter, creativity and social connection within the Strathpine Aged Care community.
We also celebrated special milestones with October Birthday Celebrations, sharing warm wishes with residents Alfonso Pizzica and David Powell, along with our new chef Dipesh. These moments are always a highlight, recognising the people who make our community so special.
Our much-loved Thursday Bus Trips continued to be a favourite, with outings to Norths Leagues Club and Seafood Town at Woody Point, where residents enjoyed delicious meals, scenic views and great company. These regular outings allow residents to stay connected with the local community while enjoying a change of scenery.
Green-thumbed residents found relaxation and joy during Garden Group, spending sunny mornings planting marigolds, snapdragons and colourful blooms in our courtyard planter boxes. Gardening remains a cherished activity that supports wellbeing and shared purpose.
Creativity was proudly on display during our Residents’ Art Exhibition, showcasing paintings, photography, quilting, drawings, colouring pieces and handcrafted woodwork from the Men’s Shed. Families, residents and staff were delighted by the talent and care that went into each piece, celebrating self-expression within the Strathpine Aged Care community.
Cultural celebration was another highlight with International Theme Day – Diwali Celebrations, where residents and staff came together to honour the Festival of Lights. The day included traditional foods, henna art, music and dance, creating a vibrant and meaningful shared experience that reflected our diverse community.
We also took time to acknowledge our dedicated team with a Farewell Morning Tea for Di Obourne and Manpreet Sidhu, thanking them for their years of genuine care and commitment to our residents.
October concluded with plenty of fun and laughter during Halloween Celebrations, featuring Halloween Art and Craft Corner, Halloween Bingo, Garden Group, and a lively concert with Darrel from The Pitch Factory. Staff and residents embraced the festive spirit, with dancing, costumes and shared joy creating memorable moments for all.
From creative programs and cultural celebrations to outings, entertainment and everyday connections, October truly reflected the warmth, inclusiveness and vibrancy of the Strathpine Aged Care community.
