Discover life at Strathpine Aged Care community in November, filled with celebrations, lifestyle activities, music, outings and meaningful connections for residents and staff.
November was a lively and joyful month at Strathpine Aged Care, filled with celebration, connection and meaningful moments shared between residents, staff, families and friends. From special events to our much-loved lifestyle activities, our community continued to thrive with warmth, laughter and togetherness.
One of the standout celebrations was the Melbourne Cup Day, where residents and staff embraced the spirit of the race that stops the nation. The day featured the popular Melbourne Cup Sweep, Bingo, a delicious buffet lunch, and watching the big race together. Fashion was proudly on display with elegant hats, fascinators and smart bow ties adding to the festive atmosphere. Congratulations to all our sweep winners and thank you to everyone who helped make the day such a success.
Our residents also enjoyed the calming and heart-warming benefits of Pet Therapy, with volunteer Natalie and her therapy dog Rosie returning as a much-loved highlight. These sessions continue to bring comfort, smiles and connection to our residents.
Connection and elegance came together beautifully during Ladies Day High Tea, where residents enjoyed sweet and savoury treats while sharing conversation, fashion and friendship in a relaxed and welcoming setting.
This month we also farewelled RN Kellie Leanne, thanking her for her dedication, compassion and commitment to our residents. We wish her every success in her future endeavours.
Music once again filled our home during Happy Hour with Rob Stevenson, as residents and staff joined in joyful sing-alongs, dancing and toe-tapping moments that lifted spirits and brought everyone together.
Laughter was sparked in the courtyard when residents discovered some unexpected visitors during Garden Group, adding a playful moment to our outdoor spaces and reminding us that joy can be found in the simplest surprises.
We also celebrated special milestones with Resident and Staff Birthdays, sending warm wishes to Alfonso Pizzica, David Powell and our new chef Dipesh as they marked their special days.
Throughout November, residents enjoyed a wide variety of enriching activities as part of our lifestyle program, including Arts and Craft, Sensory Cooking, Craft Group, Sensory Play, Balloon Tennis, Cards, Word Scrabble, Seated Exercise, Walking Group, Napkin Folding, Music Therapy with Music Grace, Playing Musical Instruments, and of course the ever-popular Bingo.
Our residents loved getting out and about on several outings, including a Scenic Bus Trip to Sandgate, a Bus Trip to Social Sands Sandgate for Lunch, and welcoming community visitors such as the Old Brass Band and Concert with Darrel.
A highlight of the month was our collaboration with Burpengary Manor Aged Care, where some of our gentlemen joined their Men’s Shed Program, followed by afternoon tea. This meaningful partnership fostered new friendships and shared experiences beyond our home.
November also featured special moments such as the Ice Cream Trolley, New Menu Tasting, visits to The Glenda Shop, and ongoing lifestyle favourites that continue to support wellbeing, engagement and connection at Strathpine Aged Care.
We are proud of the vibrant, inclusive and supportive community we share and thank our residents, families, staff, volunteers and community partners for making Strathpine Aged Care such a wonderful place to call home.
