April Highlights at Strathpine Aged Care

We celebrated April with Easter games, heartfelt ANZAC tributes, creative activities, and vibrant resident connections.

As the leaves begin to turn and the cooler days settle in, April brought with it a beautiful mix of celebration, creativity, community, and reflection here at Strathpine Aged Care.

Pen Pals and Heartfelt Connections

A special thank you to our lovely pen pals at Humpybong Primary School Plus. Your thoughtful cards and handmade bookmarks brought wide smiles to our residents' faces. We were thrilled to return the gesture with letters and photos, and we’re so glad you received them. This connection between generations is truly special.

Stitch, Chat, Knit and Natter

April saw the birth of our newest ladies' group, Stitch, Chat, Knit, and Natter. With a donated sewing machine now up and running, the group wasted no time getting creative. We’re excited to see what wonderful pieces they’ll create together — and even more excited for the stories and laughs shared in between each stitch.

New Spaces and Simple Joys

Our cosy new Scrabble Corner is open! It’s a perfect nook to enjoy a quiet game or relax with a book from our growing library. Whether it’s indoor or outdoor Scrabble, there’s always room for fun, friendly competition.

Easter Magic at Strathpine

Easter was a true celebration of community spirit. Our resident-led Craft with Barbara session brought out the best of our creativity, with beautiful decoupage eggs and handmade cards. The Easter Games were a crowd favourite, with events like Whack-a-Bunny, the Slow Motion Walking Race, and the Amazing Race Relay sparking plenty of laughs and a touch of competitive spirit. Congratulations to our Easter raffle and guessing competition winners — and thank you to the Easter Bunny for the surprise visit!

A heartfelt thank you to our lifestyle team and all the wonderful residents who pitched in to make goody bags, bake fondant biscuits, and spread joy all around. We capped off the weekend with a relaxing afternoon tea, egg mocktails, happy hour with Rob, and a beautiful Easter concert viewing by The Tabernacle Choir.

Outings and Entertainment

We made the most of the beautiful weather with a trip to Sandgate Foreshore for fish and chips, followed by a scenic drive — always a highlight! Back at home, we enjoyed performances from Ye Old Brass Band and the Clayfield Seventh Day Adventist Reform Movement, whose music and message brought warmth to our hearts.

Creative Corners and Musical Moments

From personalised cupcake decorating to crafting origami and painting, April was bursting with hands-on fun. Grace, our talented music therapist, brought joy through melody, and cardio drumming (or “drumercise” as we affectionately call it) had everyone smiling from ear to ear.

Honouring ANZAC Day

ANZAC Day is a significant and solemn time for us. Our commemorative service was a moving tribute, with thanks to Dan Gono from Bray Park–Strathpine RSL for his stirring address. We are deeply grateful to our residents Bryan, Barbara, Noel, and Athol for your participation and service. Lest We Forget. 🇦🇺🇳🇿

Wrapping Up

April was a month of connection, creativity, and care. Whether we were baking Anzac biscuits, competing in ten pin bowling, or simply sharing stories over tea, we are reminded daily of the strength of our community here at Strathpine.

Thank you to all our staff, residents, families, and visitors who made this month so memorable. We can’t wait to see what May brings!
